Porter Wiley is a managing director with FMI Capital Advisors, Inc., FMI Corporation's registered Investment Banking subsidiary. He leads FMI's building products team, which focuses on manufacturers and distributors of products and materials used in commercial and residential construction – from the carpet on the floor to the shingles on the roof and everything in between. The Building Products Team is very active in the movement toward more sustainable construction and assists clients at the intersection of construction and cleantech. Porter has more than a decade of investment banking experience dedicated to the building products and materials industry. His track record includes successful transactions for privately held companies in the middle market as well as for multibillion-dollar multinational firms. Porter started his investment banking career on Wall Street with Bankers Trust and continued with the firm through its acquisition by Deutsche Bank. There, he provided M&A advisory, leveraged finance, private placements and other capital markets transactions for a broad range of building products companies and private equity firms – including Jacuzzi, Therma-Tru, Cemex, Goodman Mfg., Ames True Temper, and many others. Subsequently, Porter was founder and managing partner of boutique advisory firms Wiley Capital Advisors and Wiley Dickson LLC, which provided M&A advisory and private placements of capital for companies in the building products, building materials and cleantech industries. Prior to finding his calling on Wall Street, Porter owned and operated The Wiley Group, a Chicago-based strategic marketing consultancy. Porter holds a master of business administration with honors in finance from Columbia Business School and a bachelor of arts from Wesleyan University. |
