Organizational Culture

The construction industry is highly competitive. Companies compete for the most lucrative work and most highly skilled employees. Over time, the way a company competes, how employees are treated, how they do work and how they treat customers define the organization and differentiate it from the competition. Having a well-defined culture allows an organization to share values, attitudes, beliefs, and customs among their people. Companies with a well-defined and “winning” organizational culture are able to thrive in virtually any economy.

Over time a leader’s vision for the organization may fade. During times of growth or downsizing, leaders and employees may change the rules of the game or the “feel” of the organization may shift. Growth often brings in new leadership and new ways of doing work. Each of these changes has the potential to shift the organizational culture. Cultural shifts will impact the organization in many ways- including productivity, efficiency, turnover, training and developmental opportunities, communication, leadership, and much more.

FMI consultants work with organizations to understand the impact of culture on their operations, to make vital cultural shifts to increase the overall effectiveness of their company, and to better define their culture for lasting sustainability.
