Productivity-Improvement Consulting

Labor-intensive contractors live and die with their ability to effectively manage the largest-controllable cost in their business – labor. FMI's Productivity Builder® Process is a proven approach to helping contractors who are strategically committed to improving productivity. Using this four-step approach, many contractors are able to realize a 5 to 10 percent savings in their annual field-labor costs, which in many cases results in a 50 to 100 percent improvement in the bottom line.

Project-Management Consulting

Project management is the most crucial function within a construction organization. The long-term success of a company is entirely dependent on the effectiveness of its project-management staff. FMI has developed a process to evaluate the effectiveness of your project-management personnel and practices. Following the project-management assessment, the greatest opportunities for improvement are prioritized and specific action plans to improve deficiencies are developed and executed.

Construction Supervisor Academy

Construction company executives know profitability of construction jobs is made or lost in the field. The efficiency and effectiveness of the front-line field supervisor optimizes the job site, motivates the field forces and facilitates collaboration with project staff. These are vital characteristics to any construction project's success. We encourage construction trade and general contractors, supervisors, superintendents, general foremen and foremen, those key people in the field, to attend this intensive three-day experiential training program.

Project Manager Academy

Our Project Manager Academy is quickly becoming the best-known in the industry for teaching project managers how to think like entrepreneurs. The PMA is where talented builders become construction entrepreneurs. The techniques of managing projects are well-known. Training in scheduling, budgeting and cost tracking is available from many sources. To graduate to the next level, your project staff must learn to think and act like business owners. When the projects break down, project managers have to feel as if they are bleeding their own money. This intense, four-day experience will make your project managers become project leaders.

Project Manager Academy II

Project Manager Academy II is the senior-level, graduate program for Project Manager Academy attendees. This is a new, tightly-packed, four-day curriculum that will challenge participants to transform from accomplished project leaders into effective business leaders. This senior-level, immersion experience is built around four core themes, each an essential building block in mastering the business of construction:

  1. Developing and maintaining profitable, long-term client relationships
  2. Building and developing talent through integrated project teams
  3. Understanding and mastering financial control of project
  4. Bidding, negotiating and managing projects to maximize profits

Project Partnering and Teambuilding

FMI is distinctly business-pragmatic in its approach to assisting teams in managing project risks. FMI's teambuilding process is focused on getting the right people together at the right time to make the right decisions that will directly impact the bottom-line project issues of safety, schedule, budget and quality. FMI custom tailors its approach to the specific needs of each project to ensure that expectations are met and an appropriate return on investment is achieved for the participants. The fact that the majority of FMI's project-delivery clients are repeat clients is a testimony to the value received from the services provided.
