FMI’s Partnering Process has become the industry standard for building proactive and cooperative project teams focused on creating a successful project for all stakeholders. One of the most important aspects of the project teambuilding process is the follow-up to any initial teambuilding activities.

FMI’s Web-based Project Team Evaluator provides a continual input mechanism from the field team to project leaders and executives. It flags potential project and relationship issues at an early stage, before they produce a detrimental impact on team behavior and project performance. Additionally, the process serves as a feedback mechanism on the status of critical project issues from senior leaders back to the field team. FMI implements the evaluation as follows:

  • Create evaluation content (standard or customized) and identify team participants
  • Distribute evaluation to designated participant list (via Project Team Evaluator Web site or e-mail)
  • Produce master report of compiled comments and trends from evaluations
  • Publish executive summary of results from each evaluation cycle
  • Debrief results with senior staff and project leaders via conference call or on-site meeting
  • Develop actions to address key issues
  • Distribute summary of trends and key decisions to all participants

Assessing and measuring team dynamics in conjunction with other project controls is critical to the delivery of a successful project. The FMI Project Team Evaluator is a management tool that provides systematic feedback encouraging teamwork and communication. This results in successful projects with fewer “rocks in the road.”
