Much like safety, productivity improvement must start at the top. Contrary to popular belief, productivity is not a field problem, but a rather important management and leadership issue. Whether it is people, systems or a combination of both that need improvement, the change has be to lead from the top in order to have a significant and sustainable impact on your bottom line.
FMI’s four-step Productivity Builder Process® is designed to improve field productivity for labor-intensive contractors and subcontractors. Industry research indicates that almost one-third of every labor dollar spent in the field is wasted on non-productive activities. With FMI’s Productivity Builder Process®, improved management practices will allow you to eliminate much of this wasted effort and significantly reduce your labor costs.
The process begins with the Worksmart Workshop, a group session for key operations managers. FMI then conducts a Productivity Needs Assessment to identify key issues and productivity-drivers in the following areas:
Using the knowledge gained from the Worksmart Workshop and Productivity Needs Assessment, FMI then conducts an Implementation Planning Session to define the work plan, a schedule, and key metrics to validate progress and results.
Successful implementation requires long-term commitment and ongoing assistance from FMI. During the Implementation Phase, FMI provides the following, as required, to support the initiative.
In addition to the Productivity Builder Process®, FMI can deliver in-house
educational sessions for operations managers, project managers, superintendents
and foremen. A sample of programs and topics includes:
