About Steve:

Steve Isaacs has thirty years of experience leading design and construction firms and major engineering, architecture and planning projects throughout the United States and overseas. He assists firms in improving their practice in the areas of overall organization and management, strategic long term planning, financial controls, project performance and profitability, negotiation, mergers and acquisition, staff mentoring and development, ownership transition, joint ventures and partnering. He designed and teaches courses in project management and the leadership of architectural, engineering and planning firms and in effective negotiation.

Steve received a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the City College of New York and a Masters in Transportation Planning and Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York. He designed and teaches courses in the project management and leadership of architectural, engineering and planning firms and in successful negotiation. He has been an officer in the Professional Services Management Association, and a speaker at many industry conferences, including the American Institute of Architects national convention, ACEC national and local meetings, SEOC, Project Management Institute and ASCE.

Steve has been teaching and consulting in the design industry for the last five years. His career in practice includes serving as President of SmithGroup California. Prior to the merger with SmithGroup, he was CEO and President of Stone Marraccini & Patterson (SMP) an international multi-office architectural and planning practice with over 150 employees. He held several positions in SMP including Managing Director of the San Francisco office and Chief Financial Officer. He also served as Managing Principal for a diversity of architecture and engineering commission.

Prior to that, Steve worked for a decade with Bechtel Incorporated on a variety of significant design and construction assignments in San Francisco, Boston, Washington DC, New York, Baltimore, and San Juan PR. His last assignment was the leader of construction and design cost control for a three billion dollar airport in Saudi Arabia.

Before joining Bechtel, Mr. Isaacs was the Assistant Director of Planning for the New York City Department of Highways. Mr. Isaacs is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of New York and an Associate of the AIA.
