Ron Magnus is managing director of FMI's Center for Strategic Leadership. Ron is committed to a vision of transforming the worldwide construction industry by building exceptional leaders one at a time. He specializes in coaching executives and their teams to develop leadership skills through a hands-on mentoring environment.

Prior to joining FMI, Ron flew fighter aircraft for 12 years for the U.S. Air Force; his distinctions include receiving the Top Gun award. He retired from the Colorado Air Guard in 1998 — being among the first guardsmen to graduate from the Air Force Space and Missile training program. He also has 14 years of experience in a wide range of leadership development. He spent more than five years at West Point providing leadership development instruction to cadets and officers at the U.S. Military Academy, and he has led and developed numerous seminars on leadership, team building, and teamwork worldwide.

Since joining FMI, Ron has created the Leadership Institute, which is the premier Leadership Development Program focused on improving the quality of individual and corporate leadership for the construction industry. The Leadership Institute has contributed broadly to the development of leaders in the industry. Ron graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a bachelor's degree in international affairs. He has a master of arts in religion from Liberty University. He was nominated and accepted as a Wharton Fellow participant in 2004 and conferred alumni status in 2008.
