Principal
Tom Alafat
As a senior consultant and principal with FMI, Tom Alafat is the executive director of FMI’s experiential learning programs. Tom’s primary focus is helping senior leaders assess and develop their leadership skills through targeted skill development and individual coaching.
Tom helps leaders attract, retain, and develop employees by learning to effectively set a clear direction, align people and resources, and inspire and motivate employees. He also equips leaders with the coaching and mentoring skills needed to raise up the next generation of leaders.
Prior to joining FMI, Tom practiced for eight years as a Licensed Professional Counselor. In addition to maintaining a full-time practice, he also taught and coached students at the graduate level and pioneered seminars focused on personal development and leadership style. He earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of New Hampshire, a master of arts in counseling from Denver Seminary and a second master of arts in counseling from Colorado Christian University. Tom is a graduate of Corporate Coach University.
The Board of Licensed Professional Examiners in Colorado licenses him. Tom has a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) designation from the International Coach Federation (ICF). The ICF is the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high standards, providing independent certification and building a worldwide network of credentialed coaches.
