Scott Duncan is a managing director with FMI Capital Advisors, FMI Corporation’s registered investment banking subsidiary. Scott works closely with construction company owners on financial advisory, mergers and acquisitions, valuations and ownership transfer issues.
Scott maintains specific expertise within construction materials (aggregates, ready mix and asphalt), oil and gas pipeline construction, and heavy civil construction markets. Over the past decade, he has managed more than $1 billion in construction industry M&A transactions and advised numerous companies on the development of internal stock transfer programs.
Scott speaks frequently at construction industry meetings and events on financial trends, mergers and acquisitions activity, valuation and ownership transfer issues. His career spans politics, business and economics, giving him a unique perspective on issues facing the industry.
Prior to joining FMI, Scott managed corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions for Lafarge’s (now LafargeHolcim) corporate development group in the United States. Prior to Lafarge, Scott worked on the oil and gas equity research team at BMO Capital Markets in Denver.
Scott has also served as a public and governmental affairs representative for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America in Washington, D.C., and as an advisor to former chairman Michael Oxley of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Denison University and a Master of Business administration from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. He holds Limited Representative-Investment Banking (Series 79) and Uniform Securities Agent license (Series 63) from the Securities and Exchange Commission and FINRA.
